The final results for the BATW 2011 Student Travel Writing Contest are in. We are proud to announce the winners:
1st place Michelle Robertson “A Kiwi Grove in Israel”
2nd place Miguel Cervantes “Enjoy without Prejudice”
3rd place Rachel Selier “Terri Falls”
The award ceremony will take place at the BATW February 19th meeting at Books Inc. in San Francisco. Be sure to sign up today so you can cheer our future travel writers and then soak in New York Times Best-Selling author Laura Fraser‘s presentation “All Over the Page: The Sensory Side of Travel Writing.” Laura’s most recent book, All Over the Map, was an Oprah 2010 summer must-read and a National Geographic Traveler “Book of the Month.” Her articles have been featured in the New York Times, O, the Oprah Magazine, Gourmet, Afar, Tricycle Buddhist Review, Vogue, Mother Jones, More, Health, Salon.com and numerous other magazines and anthologies.
