This spring and summer San Francisco is feeling groovy, and BATW will pick up the vibe on June 17 as it helps celebrate the 50th anniversary of The City’s 1967 Summer of Love. And what could be more appropriate than heading to the Castro. There we will meet at the GLBT History Museum, which has recently mounted a new exhibition: “Lavender-tinted Glasses: A Groovy, Gay Look at the ‘Summer of Love.’” Not only will we learn about the cultural event that took place a half century ago, but we will also learn more about the gay and lesbian culture that lies at the heart of The City by the Bay. Coordinator: BATW Executive Director Jim Gebbie.
