BATW JANUARY MEETING – JANUARY 16, 2016

Ladies and Gentlemen, get ready for your turn in the spotlight! The January meeting marks the official launch of BATW’s third publication, Travel Features & Photos: California’s National Parks, Monuments, Trails, Seashores and Historic Sites. Beautifully photographed and superbly written—but what else would one expect from the members of BATW—our new book celebrates the Golden State’s national park properties on the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service in 2016.

Our meeting takes place in San Francisco, at Fort Mason’s historic Gatehouse—fitting, since Fort Mason is featured in the new book (in an article by Hilary Kaiser). The Gatehouse was once the Provost Marshall’s Office, and in 1948 it became the War Department Security Patrol office.

We’ll have printed copies of the new book at the meeting available for purchase. (You can also download a free copy from the BATW website, or purchase a print-on-demand copy online.) Ten members will read from their stories, and in the next week we’ll send details on how to participate in the reading.

At this meeting we’ll also introduce the new Board and say goodbye to departing Board members.

We’ll have coffee and pastries–and please be sure to thank Ed Walsh for taking on the task of nourishing us at this and many other meetings.

Note: Due to our small meeting space, no guests can attend this meeting. Attendance will be limited to the first 30 members to sign up.
