The husband and wife team of Candy Harrington and Charles Pannell have been working together for nearly 25 years. After a 10-year hiatus from BATW they have returned to the fold because of, as Candy puts it, “the incredible support that BATW members have continued to show for our projects, in spite our official absence from the organization.”
As a travel writer for over 40 years, Candy has been covering accessible travel — that’s travel for wheelchair-users and slow walkers — exclusively for the past 23 years. Charles, an accomplished photographer in his own right, illustrates all of Candy’s work, does the layout and design for her books, and designs and manages their numerous websites, including Emerging Horizons (http://www.emerginghorizons.com). To date, Candy and Charles have 14 accessible titles to their credit, and have received a SATW Lowell Thomas Award for their efforts. The pair is currently working on new titles for their popular national park series (http://www.barrierfreenationalparks.com); and when they’re not on the road, they spend the bulk of their time at their home in the Sierras.
