December Meeting: San Francisco – Dec. 10 (Wednesday)

“Sierra Soiree at the Café: Celebrate the Holidays and California’s Biggest National Parks”
Wednesday, December 10 – 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
What’s your idea of winter fun? A light dusting of snow and the stillness of the Yosemite Valley, schussing down the slopes of Badger Pass, sipping cocoa in a horse-drawn sleigh at Tenaya Lodge or snowshoeing under giant sequoias in Sequoia or Kings Canyon? Winter is a magical season for all kinds of outdoor fun in and around California’s biggest National Parks.
For this year’s BATW annual holiday party, we will let our imaginations loose and our hair down (for those who still have some!) with our friends from Delaware North Companies Parks & Resorts. They will share the latest developments of note in Yosemite, Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks as well as at Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite. They’ll be joined by representatives from the National Park Service and our venue hosts, the Patina Restaurant Group, which will welcome attendees to the newly redesigned, art deco-inspired dining destination of Café at the Opera for an experience that harkens to a time of elegance and sophistication.
Typically only open for pre-theater dining, Café at the Opera, located at the San Francisco War Memorial & Performing Arts Center, will open its doors exclusively on Dec. 10 for BATW members. Enjoy the celebrated cuisine of Patina Restaurant Group’s Chef & Founder Joachim Splichal with an intimate tasting of hors d’oeuvres, desserts and complimentary drink. Attendees will have the chance to win door prizes contributed by our hosts as well.
All members must RSVP via Eventbrite (coming up soon) for themselves and any guest they plan to bring by noon on Fri., Dec. 5. A check for $10 for each guest should be made out to BATW and sent to Janet Wilson, Treasurer, PO Box 19143, Sacramento, CA 95819. Maximum capacity: 90 members and guests.
Watch for the Eventbrite email and RSVP early! Don’t forget to bring your smartphone with your confirmation to the event. (Cancellations also must be made through Eventbrite.)
