“Ringing in the New” – by Karen Misuraca

The elegant, historic Mechanics’ Institute was the site of our January 21 meeting, which was focused on introducing the new Board of Directors and applauding the outgoing board members; in addition, several members read lively excerpts from their articles in the new BATW magazine, The Taste of Travel. On sale at the meeting, the spectacular publication quickly sold out! Showcasing the work of additional members, a second edition is in the works.

Our stalwart leader for the past two years, President Suzie Rodriguez received our prodigious thanks, a huge bouquet of flowers and a gift; and Laura Deutsch and Karen Misuraca were also recognized for their service on the board (kudos also to Bill Scull, who was not present).

New Co-Presidents Molly Blaisdell and Tom Wilmer will head the new BOD, which includes Lee Daley, Stephanie Levin, Judith Horstman, Janet Wilson, Carole Meyers, Wendy VanHatten, and MJ Pramik; also Executive Director Jim Gebbie. (Parliamentarian Stu Wilson will stay on until his replacement is available).

Fortified by a hearty breakfast of bagels and toppings, pastries and cookies (as usual brought by Ed Walsh––on his bike!), after the regular meeting, a gang of activists met for lunch at E&O restaurant, then headed to the Civic Center to participate in the Women’s March, along with 100,00 of their closest friends!

Thanks for the recap, Karen. Excellent meeting, group luncheon and great group of protesters at the Women’s March and Rally in beautiful San Francisco.
