I am a first generation Mexican-American, born and raised in the East Bay. I studied engineering at UC Berkeley’s College of Engineering and thereafter post-graduate studies at the University of Arizona and the Max Planck Institute in Germany. After a two year stint in Germany I moved back to the Bay Area to try my luck in a tech start-up that proved successful.
From there I became a researcher at IBM Research. Recently I returned to the start-up world as CEO at Triple Coffee Company, which is using technology to make supply chains more efficient and scalable. The goal of our technology is to import the finest coffees from the smallest farms while returning the most value to coffee farmers and their communities. – Tim Melano
