Krista Rupp became the Executive Director of Visit Morgan Hill in March 2020 and, despite the circumstances, has taken the organization from a concept to reality. As the sole staff, Krista leveraged the pandemic downtime to oversee a strategic plan, branding process and the launch of a full time tourism development effort. Originally from Morro Bay, a small fishing village on the California Central Coast, Krista climbed the ranks of hospitality and tourism. Her career blossomed while simultaneously completing her Bachelor’s of Science in Recreation & Tourism Administration from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and coordinating beach weddings in the sand in Pismo Beach.
Later she moved up the coast to Ventana Big Sur and received her first dose of crisis management during the road closure at Rocky Creek in 2011. After the road was reconstructed, Krista took the leap to the north side of Monterey Bay. At Visit Santa Cruz County, Krista launched the international and meeting focused tourism programs and later managed international business development at Monterey Bay Aquarium.
She’s served in various leadership roles for the all-volunteer Central Coast Tourism since 2013. Visit Morgan Hill is now dipping its toe into public relations and Krista looks forward to enlightening fellow BATW members on this little town of opportunity. Krista resides in Morgan Hill where she enjoys gardening, trail running, and road trips in her free time.
