Join the Fun: Volunteer Some Time
Did you know that volunteering can improve your happiness?
When examining the relationship between volunteering and measures of happiness in a large group of American adults, an oft-cited 2008 study conducted by the London School of Economics determined that the more people volunteered, the happier they were.
Compared with people who never volunteered, the odds of being “very happy” rose 7% among monthly volunteers and 12% for people who volunteered every 2-4 weeks. Among weekly volunteers, 16% felt very happy; researchers equated that hike in happiness to having an income of $75,000–$100,000 versus $20,000.
So what are you waiting for? Come and join the ecstatically happy ranks of BATW volunteers, and before you know it you’ll be cartwheeling with joy.
