50 YEARS OF JAZZ IN CONCORD
CELEBRATED WITH AN AMAZING LINEUP OF EVENTS AUGUST 1 – 10, 2019
Visit Concord is proud to announce an amazing lineup of events in honor of 50 years of Jazz in Concord.  In 1969, Carl Jefferson organized the first Concord Summer Music Festival that later became the Concord Jazz Festival. This began the 50 year tradition that has welcomed artists such as Count Basey, Rosemary Clooney, Ella Fitzgerald, Woody Herman, Marian McParltand, Mel Torme, Pancho Sanchez, Concord born and raised Dave Brubeck and more.  In 1973, Jefferson started Concord Records. For 26 years, until the business was sold and relocated in 1999, talented musicians recorded albums that soared to the top of the billboard music charts, won numerous Grammy Awards and created a powerful history of Jazz in Concord.
In honor of Concord’s long-term connection with jazz, fans can immerse themselves in 10 days of unprecedented events that will enlighten, engage and entertain. It’s happening August 1st – 10th and it’s all about jazz. With concerts, trivia, themed menus, and more there is something for everyone to enjoy. And many of the events are free! Concord Jazz and Live Nation are proud to present the 50th Anniversary Concord Jazz Festival, to be held on Saturday, August 3rd at the Concord Pavilion in Concord. The lineup includes Dave Koz & Friends Summer Horns, Esperanza Spalding, Chick Corea Spanish Heart Band, The Legendary Count Basie Orchestra featuring Patti Austin, Jamison Ross, Carmen Bradford and special guests in a special Celebrating Ella set, Poncho Sanchez & his Latin Jazz Band, and many more to be announced soon. Stay at one of Concord’s hotel properties August 2-4, 2019 and receive a $50 gift card with your reservation.
