I am a fourth-generation Californian, grew up in the East Bay, went to college at Cal State Chico, and spent 25-years in beautiful San Luis Obispo, California, before returning to Oakland.
My first venture into the tourism arena was when I worked at San Luis Obispo County’s destination marketing organization for eight years. My job was to entice people to travel to California’s central coast (which wasn’t hard to do, considering the area). I wrote a variety of travel stories and press releases, oversaw the production of numerous visitors guides (three won top awards from the California Office of Tourism), and coordinated press trips and FAM tours for travel journalists from all over the world.
Currently, I am the Content Coordinator for Piedmont Living magazine, a family-friendly community publication, sent out monthly to the residents of Piedmont, located in the East Bay. Also, I’m a contributing writer and photographer for Oakland’s Montclair Living magazine, our sister publication. I write press releases and create publicity and multi-faceted marketing campaigns for several organizations. I specifically enjoy creating innovative story ideas and pitching them to media outlets. There’s nothing that makes me happier than seeing a story I pitched come to fruition.
