BERKELEY, Calif., July 13, 2020 –Visit Berkeley delivered personal protective equipment (PPE) to local hotels in an initiative made possible by Visit Berkeley’s membership in the California Hotel and Lodging Association. As Berkeley hotels reopen per city and Alameda County guidelines, the PPE will help to minimize hotel staff exposure to the COVID-19 virus.
Visit Berkeley is a member of the California Hotel and Lodging Association (CHLA), who in partnership with the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) is providing the PPE to CHLA hotel and lodging property members.
The Visit Berkeley team delivered 29,000 masks and 168 gallons of hand sanitizer, along with information on applying for the CHLA Clean + Safe program. The initiative provides hotels with clear cleaning and disinfecting protocols, with recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the California Department of Public Health and county public health departments.
“This is an outstanding and much-needed benefit of our membership in CHLA,” said Barbara Hillman, Visit Berkeley President & CEO. “We are proud to be able to help provide critical PPE resources to our lodging partners across the city.” “Our members are grateful for the governor’s support of PPE equipment that enhances their readiness to reopen,” said Lynn S. Mohrfeld, President and CEO of CHLA.
