MJ Pramik has just published her new book, Travels on the Edge: One Woman’s Journeys on a Runaway Planet. In this collection, Pramik shares stories of adventure and personal evolution against the backdrop of the current climate crisis. These essays and poems reflect upon two decades of journeys around the globe, offering wisdom for developing a conscious mind for sustainable travel as our planet’s catastrophic transformations continue. Pramik will be read from and discuss her book at the Left Coast Writers event at Book Passage bookstore in Corte Madera from 2 to 4 pm on the 19th of August. All BATWans are invited. There will be bubbly.

 

Jennifer Sweeney is representing Explore Butte County. Located at the northern end of California’s Central Valley, 75 miles north of Sacramento, Butte County offers a variety of recreation, authentic local culture and festive events in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. She would like batw members to consider her a resource for any stories you are working on or to brainstorm ideas about a lesser-known region of California that offers the abundance of year-round experiences whether you’re seeking adventure, relaxation, or a taste of California’s heritage.

 

Erin Deinzer has published an article in BizBash magazine on how groups can nurture and show respect for the islands of Hawaii. With the term “overtourism” and its negative impacts on the travel industry on people’s radar, many destinations (domestic and foreign) are combating it with policies intended to mitigate the results of too many bodies in one place at one time. Read Erin’s article here.
