Laurie McAndish King will be speaking about Travel and Transformation in San Francisco on Friday, September 8th, at 5:30. “Travel has transformed me many times,” Laurie says, “and I’m honored to be speaking at the beautiful Metropolitan Club about a few of those experiences.” The $55 ticket includes a glass of wine, a gorgeous and delicious charcuterie/fruit buffet board, and an inspiring conversation about about the myriad ways in which travel—and travel literature—can be transformative.
Most of the attendees will be Metropolitan Club members, but there is limited room for non-members as well. If you’d like to attend please email Laurie about details.
Laurie also spoke with author Anita Gail Jones about her new book, The Peach Seed, available this summer from Henry Holt. Their conversation for The Women’s Eye included the ways in which diverse interests can enrich an author’s work; how Jones was able to maintain focus for the 16 years it took her to write, edit, and get the book published; and her very personal reason for writing this particular story. Jones also offers tips for writers.
