Ginny Prior and her colleagues at Sunday to Sunday Productions have been recognized by The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences SF/Northern CA Chapter with a 2020 Emmy award for Outstanding Interview/Discussion Program. The award is for the program “Sunday to Sunday, the preaching journey”, an online and cable TV program using cinematic storytelling to highlight gifted preachers.

The Sunday to Sunday team is led by Roman Catholic priest, retired college professor, and television producer, Father Mike Russo. Prior, Sunday to Sunday’s producer, has worked with Fr. Russo since 2009, when she joined him in teaching journalism at St. Mary’s College of California. The Sunday to Sunday team also includes SMC graduate and filmmaker Carlos Torres and his business partner Jake Slonecker, along with another St. Mary’s alum – business manager Matt Soares.

Since founding this non-profit production company just three years ago, Sunday to Sunday has focused its efforts in applying contemporary cinematic production to highlight unique aspects of Catholic ministry, stimulate conversation and bring to light the word of God. This program aims to help improve the quality of preaching nation-wide by providing case studies of gifted preachers for study in university, seminary, and adult education of gospel witnesses.

The Emmy-award winning episode explores Philadelphia priest Chris Walsh’s work ministering to an African American congregation at Saint Raymond of Penafort.
