Laurie McAndish King is one of four authors heading up a panel on indy publishing January 6 at the Left Coast Writers Salon at Book Passage. In Corte Madera. McAndish Kings book, Your Crocodile has Arrived: More true stories from a curious traveler, has also won two more awards—a silver medal in the Travel category and a bronze medal in the Cover Design category from the North American Book Awards. The award-winning cover design is by Jim (the Book Alchemist) Shubin.

“Tips from Serial Self Publishers” at the Left Coast Writers salon will also include these panelists:

  • Susan McGowan, whose Tarot mystery series includes The Fool Card, The Magician Card, The High Priestess Card, The Empress Card, The Emperor Card, and The Hierophant Card
  • Todd Crawshaw, whose novels include Exploits of the Satyr; God, Sex, and Psychosis; and Portrait of a Rainbow as a Young Man
  • Nicola Twrst, whose mysteries include San Rafael Sizzle, Bolinas Bongo, The Belvedere Club, and Bayou Nights

After toasting the new year with a sip of champagne, we’ll be talking about what we’ve learned and offering tips for other authors who want to try indie publishing. The Left Coast Writers salon is normally just for members, but BATW members may attend on Monday, Jan 6, as Laurie’s guests. Just call Book Passage (415-927-0960) ahead of time and ask to be put on the guest list. The event begins at 7 p.m.
