Dear BATW Colleagues:
As Past President of BATW, I am glad to hand the gavel to my well-deserved colleague Judith Horstman. In addition to my deep gratitude to her, I think the initiative I am most proud of during my term as President is the amazing board and officers we have been fortunate enough to draw. In case you missed the January meeting, here’s an introduction to our illustrious Board of Directors for 2018:
Judith Horstman – President
MJ Pramik – Vice President
John Williamson – Treasurer
John Sundsmo – Secretary
Tom Wilmer – Membership Chair
Molly Blaisdell
Ruth Carlson
Lee Daley
Stephanie Levin
Carole Terwilliger Meyers
We will be meeting in early February for our annual board retreat. If you would like to suggest any topics of discussion, please email Judith at judithhorstman@comcast.net.
Additionally, I would like to thank all the volunteers who have helped accomplish so many great projects over the past few years – some of which came to fruition under the terms of Suzie Rodriguez and Laurie King. These include:
five publications (Travel Stories from Around the Globe, Clips & Pics, Travel Features & Photos: California’s National Parks, Monuments, Trails, Seashores and Historic Sites, Travel Features & Photos: The Taste of Travel, Taste of Travel: Food, Stories & Photos from around the World)
two major contests (BATW Best Awards, BATW Planet Earth Awards)
– Members Only change to Wild Apricot
– new WordPress theme for the homepage
– and many skill enhancing/professional development monthly meetings
It is through volunteers that we all succeed. In the words of one of my favorite Presidents, Barack Obama, “The best way to not feel hopeless is to get up and do something. Don’t wait for good things to happen to you. If you go out and make some good things happen, you will fill the world with hope, you will fill yourself with hope.”
Cheers, Molly
