On Thursday, August 27, members of the BATW Board gathered in downtown San Francisco to discuss current issues. Mid-Market’s Timbri Hotel San Francisco, Curio Collection by Hilton, hosted our group in its Hammett boardroom, 12,250-square feet of flexible space, including multiple meeting rooms. Here, seven board members convened to discuss the BATW marketing campaign and membership drive, the organization’s upcoming change of presidency, and our 2026 holiday party.
Once the meeting adjourned, the Timbri treated the board to a site tour of its space. This modern hotel features 236 industrial chic rooms and suites, as well as its own floor-level coffee shop. Designed by the renowned Bjarke Ingels Group, it’s housed in a flatiron-shaped building with a blend of modern Art Deco interiors and industrial touches, including concrete ceilings. The hotel’s Spoke Café draws overnight guests and local residents alike, serving up everything from cold brews to grab-and-go pastries.
Although the in-town Pokemon World Championships had sold out all of the property’s rooms for the evening, the BATW board still had an opportunity to experience the Timbri’s main highlight: Rise Over Run, a 12th-floor rooftop bar and restaurant with amazing views of the city. The panoramic rooftop space is home to features both an open-air outdoor terrace and a flora-filled indoor solarium.
We took a seat in the solarium, where Executive Chef Michael Rosenthal treated our board to a sharable menu of appetizers, main courses, and sweets, all chosen from some of his favorite dishes. Selections included grilled pork belly skewers bathed in miso glaze, and hangar steak with peppercorn sauce. The Norcal green salad dressed in citrus ginger vinaigrette was especially delicious, while the charred Shishito peppers made the perfect starter. Most of us saved room for tiramisu and rice pudding with strawberry jam and coconut cream before wrapping up the night.
