From Ruth Carlson:
Our May 19 meeting takes off at the Oakland International Airport. Passenger traffic is at a decade high thanks to new non-stop flights, a $45-million upgrade to the international terminal, and an easy BART connection.
Like Oakland, BATW is experiencing a renaissance. The Board is renewing its commitment to being the professional organization you turn to for career advancement, travel news and press trips. We have a committee reviewing the membership requirements and credentialing program. Until the report is released later this year, all credentials have been automatically extended through 2018.
If you have a press card, it’s good through 2018. You can get  a sticker to put over the current date at the May 19 meeting — or send an SASE (Self Addressed Stamped Envelope) to:
Marc Longwood
3300 Powell St, No 336
Emeryville, CA  94608
And consider asking your writer and photographer friends to check out a meeting. There are so many terrific incentives for new members to join but for me the best part of BATW is making new friends. BATW provides opportunities to form lasting relationships with experienced professionals in both the editorial and public relations fields.
Did you know that aspiring travel writers can join as provisional members and attend a meeting for free? We all have friends and family who are envious so let them see the reality of our “glamorous” careers at one of our meetings!
I look forward to seeing you May 19.
