Yvonne Michie Horn passed away on February 16 at the age of 94. She was a third-generation resident of Sonoma County, and a member of BATW for many years. Here are some thoughts from BATW colleague Maria Lenhart, who was inspired by Horn’s writing.
“I was shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of Yvonne Horn on Feb 16, a remarkable travel writer and human being. She was 94, but seemed decades younger. Yvonne, a two-time Lowell Thomas Award winner and Sonoma County native, was a long- time member of BATW and SATW. She wrote numerous articles for national publications and also created  popular travel and gardening websites. Her 100 Things to Do in Sonoma County Before You Die inspired me to write two books for the same publisher. She generously offered me numerous tips on book marketing and promotion. She will be greatly missed.”

Lee Daley remembered Yvonne with these words:
“So sorry to hear this tragic news. I loved Yvonne and was thrilled to read her recent post in the BATW Travel Magazine. She was an amazing trooper, still contributing at 94.
Yvonne’s memorial page can be seen on the Neptune Society website here. Read her BATW Travel Magazine article on hiking the English countryside here.
