“A Lively 2016 Schedule for BATW”
by Karen Misuraca
This year’s calendar showcases BATW’s focus on important travel topics and some of California’s most popular tourism destinations. Our Board of Directors and our Associate members are working hard to arrange generously hosted meetings at great locations throughout the greater Bay Area and beyond. Save these dates! (Details will appear each month on the website and you will receive email invitations.)
March 19: Hosted at Hakone Estate and Gardens in Saratoga, our Tourism & Climate Change panel will feature Jennine Cohen, Director of Americas at Geographic Expeditions, and Doug Cheeseman from Cheesemans’ Safaris, who will discuss what they are seeing and experiencing around the world as related to climate change, how their companies minimize and offset environmental/carbon footprints, and how you can raise the awareness of your readers of the phenomenon of climate change––some great story ideas will result! Included will be: lunch; tour of one of the country’s most spectacular and oldest Japanese gardens; and winery tasting visits.
April 22-23: Meeting and press trip to Yosemite’s Tuolumne Gold Country.
May 21: Meeting, lunch, outdoor activities and beer tasting in Richmond.
June 18: The Ritz-Carlton San Francisco hosts a meeting and presentations by travel industry speakers.
July 16: Meeting and travel photography presentation & activities.
August: Summer vacation! No meeting.
September 17: Meeting and presentation hosted by Palm Springs Bureau of Tourism.
October 15: Meeting and adventures in the Sonoma Wine Country.
Final note: Do take a few moments to refresh your knowledge of our Professional Conduct guidelines, which are located under the “Joining BATW” tab on the website. Let’s remember that at media events and on press trips, your behavior reflects not only on you but also our organization.
See you all over the place this year!
