BATW – May Meeting – May 11, 2013  – 2nd Saturday in May

10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Meeting at Oracle’s “boat shed” on Pier 80 (999 Marin St., SF – parking provided) and then at Morton Beebe’s Condominium, 150 Lombard St., San Francisco (parking provided at Pier 27/29)
Get an insider’s view of the upcoming 55 days of racing that will be hosted in the San Francisco Bay during July, August and September this year. First we will get a tour of the Oracle boat shed and view their AC45 and AC72 race boats, their big and really big racing catamarans. We are hoping to be able to take photographs of the boats. Next we will switch venues to Mort Beebe’s condominium (parking also provided at Pier 27/29), where we will hear from two key players that are at the center of making this event happen.
Tim Jeffery, America’s Cup Director, Promotions, Athletes and PR, will discuss the race dynamics, personalities and the history of the America’s Cup race.
Peter Albert, Urban Planning Manager for the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA), will talk about his team’s plans for moving people around the city during this intense racing season, which includes the Louis Vuitton Cup, Defender’s Challenge, Red Bull Youth America’s Cup and the America’s Cup Final.
Mark your calendars for an unforgettable morning. Note this is the 2nd Saturday of May due to the scheduling constraints of the America’s Cup.
Note: Refreshments will be served. Space is limited. Seating on first-come, first-served basis.
New RSVP Policy: Submit your RSVP on the Members Only portion of the BATW website, click here, then either bring your smartphone with the confirmation to the meeting for check-in or print it out. To cancel your reservation, contact Programs Chair Erin Caslavka ([email protected]).
