Susan Alcorn is hosting a book launch party on the patio, with wine and snacks, Saturday, November 13 at 2 p.m. at Book Passage in Corte Madera. The event is sponsored by Left Coast Writers. Susan will be discussing her most recent book, Walk, Hike, Saunter: Seasoned Women Share Tales and Trails as well as sharing some of her inspiring stories of hiking and backpacking through the decades. Susan, now 80, has just returned from hiking another 135 miles on one of France’s pilgrimage trails. She, with her husband Ralph, publish her hiking books under the imprint Shepherd Canyon Books. She has been an independent publisher since 1980 and is always happy to share her experiences.

Karen Misuraca and Ruth Carlson recently spoke about their new books at the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco. Both published by Reedy Press, Ruth’s title is Secret California: A Guide to the Weird, Wonderful & Obscure; and Karen wrote Secret Sonoma: A Guide to the Weird, Wonderful & Obscure. The authors are currently promoting their books. Karen will be at Barnes & Noble in Santa Rosa in November, while Ruth is appearing throughout the state, including at the Book Den in Santa Barbara, and beyond.

Far-flung BATWer Jules Older was on Radio New Zealand talking with Sunday Morning host Jim Mora about The Sixties and American Pie. Jules and Effin have been in New Zealand for more than a year now, where they’re heading into summer and watching the days grow longer.
