Elaine Lee has a chapter in the newly released Chronicle Books publication “Nature Swagger” edited by Rue Mapp, founder of “Outdoor Afro”, the leading USA based Afrocentric Outdoor Adventure/Nature Lovers Association. Since its creation in 2009, the organization has grown from one chapter in Oakland, CA to 70 chapters across the USA.
Rue chose to include Elaine’s magnificent and magical experience story about swimming with wild dolphins in Kealakekua Bay, which is located on the Kona coast of the Big Island of Hawaii. April Orcutt is honored to be included among Pico Iyer, Isabel Allende, and Tim Cahill in Geographic Expeditions’ new anthology, The Best of Wanderlust: Tales of Wonder & Connection. Editor Don George wrote that “this celebratory new collection” features “transporting stories by Pico Iyer, Isabel Allende, Tim Cahill, Anthony Sattin, Stanley Stewart, Sivani Babu, Jeff Greenwald, April Orcutt, Tahir Shah, Jessica Silber” and Don George himself.
“To assemble this collection,” George wrote, “I reread the hundreds of evocative stories we have published [over 15] years.” He added that the free e-book “showcases some of the finest stories and essays . . . on the Wanderlust blog, pieces that celebrate . . . the wonders of the word and the world.” April feels grateful and delighted that her essay, “Tibetan Bargain with a Twist,” was included among those by such an esteemed group of writers.
