John Williamson recently won 2nd prize in the people section of the Outdoor Writers of California – 2025 Excellence in craft awards. The winning submission in the Photography/Artwork – People category was for John’s photo of the animal handler at Spenker Family Farm and winery in Lodi, kissing one of her gregarious goats. Jill Robinson has a feature on acclaimed South Carolina quiltmaker Cookie Washington in The Saturday Evening Post. Robinson met Washington while visiting Charleston to teach a course at the College of Charleston. The quiltmaker creates art that stirs people’s souls and are pieces of essential history, but she also helps keep Gullah Geechee art alive by teaching classes on making Gullah rag quilts.
