Amy Sherman is a San Francisco-based writer who has written for publications that include Afar, Architectural Digest, Wine Enthusiast, Westways, San Francisco and Napa Valley Register. She grew up in Marin County and has held editorial roles at Marin magazine, CitySearch and YP and has also written extensively for Visit Half Moon Bay. She writes about local restaurants and bars for Via, FoodNetwork and TimeOut, and about food industry issues for OpenTable.
Amy is passionate about the restaurant scene on Oahu, the outdoor markets of Thessaloniki, the street food of Mexico City and spent six months delving into the language, culture and cuisines of Italy. She is the author of WinePassport: Portugal and Williams Sonoma New Flavors for Appetizers. She is a past board member of the San Francisco Professional Food Society and is a member of the Society of American Travel Writers.
In addition to writing about travel, she develops recipes for editorial and corporate clients and for her food blog, Cooking with Amy which was established in 2003. Prior to writing she was a branding consultant and she still works on product naming, copywriting and SEO projects.
