BATW Award-winning journalists Jeneé Darden and Kahja Elliott hosted a fascinating Zoom event, April 1, on podcasting. The presentation, entitled It’s Not All Talk: Tips on Hosting and Producing a Podcast, is now up on the BATW YouTube channel, which can be accessed when you log into your BATW.org account and go to BENEFITS and the YouTube channel link.

A Bay Area transplant with a decade of experience exploring the region’s vibrant food scene, Kahja brings a unique perspective to food media. The As Told By Podcast, now entering its 6th season, showcases the diverse stories of people across various intersections of the food industry, from James Beard Award winners and nominees to rising stars. With a commitment to intersectional storytelling, Kahja creates a platform for authentic voices, fostering a thriving community around food.

Jeneé is an award-winning journalist, author, documentarian, public speaker and mental health advocate from Oakland, Calif. She is the host and executive producer of the weekly KALW arts shows The Sights + Sounds Show with Jeneé Darden and Sights + Sounds Picks. Jeneé has reported for NPR, Marketplace, KQED, KPCC/LAist, The Los Angeles TimesEbony, Refinery29 and other outlets. In 2005, she reported on the London transit bombings for Time magazine. Her documentary Where Is East Oakland was screened at the 2019 Oakland International Film Festival. She is the author of When a Purple Rose Blooms (Black Lawrence Press), a collection of essays and poetry about her personal journey through Black womanhood. She curates the reading Let Her Tell It!  about Black women and mental health. Jeneé is a proud alum of UC San Diego and the University of Southern California.
