BATW September Meeting
Date: September 20, 2014
Time: 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Program: Includes presentation on Writing from the Senses, lunch, and docent-led tour of the arboretum.
Place: San Francisco Botanical Gardens, enter Golden Gate Park at 9th Avenue near Lincoln. Meeting room information to be provided.
Presentation: Writing from the Senses. Presentation and mini-workshop with BATW member Laura Deutsch, whose book Writing from the Senses was published by Shambhala in 2014 and has Five Stars (out of Five) on Amazon! Bring paper and pen. You’ll enjoy this, we promise.
The sensory details that infuse our everyday experience—the smell of a favorite dish cooking, the texture of a well-worn coat, hearing a song that reminds us of a time in our lives—can add richness and spark to what we write. Using delightful sensory prompts, Laura will show you how to tap into your best material, enriching memory and story with imagery and detail. With Writing from the Senses as your guide, you’ll never have to stare at a blank page or computer screen again.
Our tour of the arboretum includes visits to several different gardens to complete our sensory experience!
Note: Please RSVP through your EventBrite invitation; reservations no longer may be made on the MemberClicks site. Remember to bring a printout of your confirmation or your smartphone. (Using the EventBrite app on your smartphone makes this easy!) Cancellations should be made on EventBrite. If you have questions, there is a link on EventBrite that allows you to contact the organizer of the meeting. For September, the organizer is Laura Deutsch.
