BATW member Amy Sherman, editorial director of Professor Media Group, will moderate a panel of travel editors for a BATW Zoom presentation on October 24 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Panelist include BATW Editors Council member Whitney Phaneuf, editor-in-chief of Via magazine and Jeremy Tarr, the Digital Editorial Director of Fodor’s Travel. A third editor may be a surprise addition. The conversation will cover details about their respective publications, how to pitch them, writing best practices, and more.
Whitney Phaneuf is the editor-in-chief of Via magazine. Previously, she has held editorial positions at KQED, East Bay Express, Hitfix/Uproxx, and Acoustic Guitar, Ukulele, and Strings magazines. When she’s not editing the award-winning stories within Via, she’s planning adventures where she can get outside and dig into a good book.
Since 2016, Jeremy Tarr has been the Digital Editorial Director of Fodor’s Travel, the iconic 88-year-old travel brand. Based in Los Angeles, he oversees a diverse group of opinionated and well-journeyed editors, who collectively produce a wide range of daily travel coverage. Jeremy also oversees the quarterly tent-pole articles, including the annual Go List, No List, and the Fodor’s Finest Hotel Awards. While at the helm, Fodors.com has won the Webby Award for Best Travel Site and the Lowell Thomas Award for Best Editorial Website in 2022 and 2023.
This will be great! Thanks, Amy!
Cheers,
April
