BATW Author, publisher and hiker extraordinaire Susan Alcorn will be leading us on a discovery of the San Francisco Botanical Gardens, on May 30. This Golden Gate Park destination features 55-acres of colorful blooms and exotic plants showcasing 8,000 specimens from around the world and the entrance fee will be waived for attendees.
Susan & her husband Ralph have trekked over 3000 miles of the Camino se Santiago, walked Italy’s Cinque Terre, climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, and completed the Pacific Crest Trail, the John Muir Trail and numerous paths around San Francisco.
Members will meet in the The Helen Crocker Russell Library of Horticulture at 9 a.m. for refreshments and a brief meeting and briefing from the garden staff. The tour will start promptly at 10 a.m. and be done by noon. Stay tuned for for details and your personal invitation via email.
