Elaine Lee made a guest appearance on KRON TV’s “Live on the Bay” Show” Jan. 23, and had the opportunity to share news about her soon to be released book Go Girl 2: The Black Woman’s Book of Travel and Adventure, as well as share some travel tips. A newscaster friend of Elaine’s sent BATW colleague Brandy Collin’s SFGate article to the producer of the show and the producer contacted Elaine right away with an invitation to appear on the show. Melanie Haiken is excited to share that she’s had two Nat Geo stories so far this year! Did you know that poachers kill hundreds of vultures at a time so they can’t give away the locations of illegal kills? Or that without vultures, rabies and other diseases spike? Reporting on topics like these, she learn so much about the complexities of animal-human relationships, the delicacy of ecosystems, and the dire changes taking place on the fringes of world attention. Read the article HERE.

Alec Scott had a December article  in the New York Times, about an ink-maker based in Toronto. “I traveled to Toronto to see my parents in the fall, and set up an interview with Jason Logan, one of the world’s premiere inkmakers. He forages for the raw materials from which he produces these beautifully tinted inks. The Times assigned the piece as one of their semi-regular features on artisans — and sent a great photographer to capture his work outside and in. Essence of the autumn in the Northeast of the continent distilled. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/12/03/arts/design/craftsmanship-ink-jason-logan-toronto.html
