New BATW Board of Directors Meets in Yountville

The stars were out in Yountville for the annual BATW board of directors retreat Jan 29-31. We’re talking Michelin stars in a Napa Valley town known for its great restaurants and celebrated wines.

The 2024 BOD was hosted by longtime Napa Valley PR person Tom Fuller and the Yountville Chamber of Commerce. Napa Valley Lodge hosted the BATW team for two days of meetings and much was accomplished.

The first order of business was to elect the new executive board, which saw several members put their names in nomination. The new co-presidents for the next two years are Amy Sherman and Ruth Carlson. Nora Heston Tarte has been elected vice President and David Laws and John Williamson will remain as secretary and treasurer (respectively).

The other board members include John Compisi, who will head up the volunteer committee, Brandy Collins who heads up our social media with John C. as assistant, Laurie Armstrong Gossy as program chair, and Erin Deinzer and Ed Walsh performing many tasks as needed.

There are several major decisions you’ll want to know about, including the Board’s recognition and planning for the 40th anniversary of BATW’s founding in 1984, and the development of a survey to determine what new benefits and programming our members would like to see offered.

The Board will also start working on collaborations with other like-minded organizations to boost membership and increase BATW’s profile in the travel journalism community.

Our next meeting is at the Santa Clara County Convention Center for a timely tour of Levi’s Stadium ahead of major events like the Rolling Stones concert and the Super Bowl LX. BATW meetings are listed under EVENTS when you log in to batw.org.
